Uttrakhand News:A painful incident in Haridwar's industrial area Sidkul has shaken the entire area. A factory worker raped a widow woman and brutally attacked her when she protested. After putting chilli powder in the victim's eyes, the accused attacked her with an iron rod and a sharp weapon, due to which she was seriously injured. She was immediately taken to the local hospital, from where the doctors referred her to AIIMS Rishikesh after seeing her critical condition.
The victim's brother told the police in his complaint that the accused youth Rajat, a resident of Sahdevpur police station Pathri, was already harassing his sister. On May 11, the accused lured her to his room and raped her there. When the woman protested, he put chilli powder in her eyes and attacked her with an iron rod, leaving her bleeding.
The victim is originally from Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. She was married in a village in Uttarakhand, but after her husband's death, she came to live with her younger brother in Sidkul and was working in a private factory there. According to the brother, his sister was earning her living by hard work and had no enmity with anyone.
At the time of the incident, hearing the woman's screams, people from the nearby area reached the spot and took her to the hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, the accused Rajat absconded from the spot. The police immediately registered a case and started searching for him. Sidkul police station in-charge said that raids are being conducted at possible hideouts to arrest the accused.
The police have registered a case under sections 376 (rape), 326 (causing grievous hurt), and other sections of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation is being carried forward on the basis of the woman's statement. SSP Haridwar has said that the culprit will be arrested soon and strict action will be taken.
